fortnight: gotta say that i wasnt so sure how this post malone + tay collab was gonna go. i wasnt exactly...jumping up and down for this collab, u could say. but this song actually surprised me! their voices do go kinda good together. and ofc the music video is pretty good (i have a whole other post abt that if u wanna see all the easter eggs in the music video). this song isnt my favorite its just like okay, yk? its a pretty decent song but not my fave. also i think that post malone shouldve got more time to sing he had like one verse and he deserved more than that and i thought he sounded kinda silenced like in snow on the beach w lana. my friend was saying that she should've switched fortnight and the tortured poets department (title track) so that the tortured poets department would be the first track. i agree w her
the tortured poets department: this is actually a really good song! at first it was one of my faves, but i think it just needs a little bit more like peppy pop sound to it for me to really love it, but ofc, thats just me. i adore the drums int he beginning (if thats what it is lol i am def not an instruments expert). i love when she puts references into her songs so i liked it when she was like "ur not dylan thomas, im not patti smith, this aint the chelsea hotel we're modern idiots" and when i heard that part i was like "who?!!! where??!!" so i had to look it up later. someone said that it sounded like suburban legends and i realized it kinda did! i laughed at the golden retriever part and i was like "oh like the golden retriever personality???" and i realized no ratty does not have a golden retriever personality bc RATS dont have a golden retriever personality!!!!!!
my boy only breaks his favorite toys: ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE WITH THIS SONG ITS SO GOOD 1000000000000000000/10. i love the beat its so catchy and def a bop. i was actually expecting a more sad and slow song bc like the title sounded kinda sad but this beat is great i love it! basically all i have to say is AMAZING CHEFS KISS 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💋💋💋💋💋😵😵😵😵😵
down bad: also a great song! at the part where she says "down bad waking up and bloooooddd" her voiceeeeee i cant explain it it just sounds sooooo like RJIOEJREJOREIJI i cant explain it nvm. also apparently she recorded it on the day when she wore THE red tank top. her vocals were really amazing in this song fs. there were also some paralells to new romantics (i'll talk abt all the paralells in a diff post)
so long, london: TRACK FIVEEEEE LETS GO!!! but if im being honest, i was hoping for a more like dramatic track 5 like if yk what i mean? i love the little echos where its like "so, so, long, long" the lyrics thoooooo. i had to look on genius to see all the lyrics and like what they meant and like "how much saaaaddd did u think i hadddd in me..." 😢 idk if it was just me (it probably is) but i didnt hear or see any parallels to london boy like i was expecting so not sure whats going on there. ppl where talking abt false god bc of the lyric abt the alter?? im not sure i gotta study more
but daddy i love him: LOVEEEEE THIS SONGGGGG SMMMMMMMMMM! i love the part where the beat is like upbeat and its like "RUNNING W MY DRESS UNBUTTONED SCREAMING BUT DADDY I LOVE HIM" and then tay literally made as all gagged and then un-gagged in like 3 seconds w the "im having his baaaaby no im not but u should see ur faces!!!" 😮 i think every swiftie's jaw dropped to the ground when they heard this lyric. there have been so many memes using this lyric and i think its really funny. this song also reminded me of love story bc like daddy said stay away from juliet and i was cryin on the staircase begging u pls dont goooooo. i heard someone say that braids were mentioned in but daddy i love him and loml! in daddy i love him its neat but in loml its "being combed out". then another person was noticing that she wore little braids to the chiefs game and grammys. could this be a hairstyle for the ttpd set on the eras tour (if we're even getting that)?? i think so. its a very little detail, abt the braids so idk i just wanted to let u guys know some ppl were saying that.
loml: so sad....and when she says "talking rings, talking cradles" girllllll!!! she and joe were talking abt getting married and having a baby or actually multiple children bc it says cradles (plural)! this song is very sad but not one of my faves. i just havent listened to this song that much and i feel like i need to listen to it more for me to love it or like it. i feel like marriage is talked abt a lot on this album and having kids is mentioned a few times too! i feel so bad for tay but i feel like now she has another chance to have what she wanted w joe but w travis if that makes sense
i can fix him (no really i can): thought this song was gonna be upbeat. it was not. pretty sure this is abt ratty bc basically the whole album is abt him. ppl are saying its very country and yeehaw vibes. i agree and think tay def had a cowgirl hat on when she was recording this song. but u prob wanna know how i like this song. i dont really like it and tbh it doesnt really matter to me but again, like w loml, maybe i just need to listen to it more? or i just dont like it. hope there are some ppl out there who dont like this song either...i feel very alone
guilty as sin?: def some false god references here! its not my fave but its a decent song. also when she was singing abt the lowercase vault???? reputation tv?? is still in the vault???? and its in lowercase? man, im such a clown, ik, ik. but if there are any swifties who have never clowned or arent clowns, i'd be very shocked. but back to the song. but also apparently someone said that someone said that loml and imgonnagetyouback are the only songs on the album that are in all lowercase. these songs are both abt like longing for someone or something when they were "in secret" or something. so lowercase and in a vault bc of secret relationship? i dont got much to say abt hte song itself so lemme just say that its mid for me.
florida!!!: I LOVE THIS SONG OMG MASTERPIECE ALERT! ppl are like hating on this song but i just dont understand them?? like huh? I LOVE THE BANGING SOUND AND FLORENCE AND TAY'S VOICES GO AMAZING TOGETHER! this was an absolute perfect collab bc their voices are just like heaven and i cant explain it. i love the part where its like FLORIDA ⛏⛏⛏ !!! I ❤️ THIS SONG SM AND I WILL NOT TOLERATE ANY HATE FOR IT!
whos afraid of little old me?: ITS GIVING REP 2.0! and what really gagged me was "dont u worry folks, we took at all her teeth" like mother??????? r u..stable? i was so gagged bc i listened to this song before i had to go work and i was like :OOOOOOO when she said "whos afraid of little old me? YOU SHOULD BE!" i actually thought this was gonna be upbeat and fun bc the title was like playful and stuff! i dunno but i LUV this song too
